Mrs Tierney returned to school in May and was amazed at how much the Junior and Senior Infants had grown. They had a wonderful time with Miss Beardmore and learned many exciting lessons.
There is stiff competition at the moment for “Fruit of the Week”, with the Cherries being the first group to win this most coveted title.
We are learning about butterflies and frogs at the moment – did you know that their babies don’t look like them at all!?
We are now experts at laptops, and are using Computer Classroom and Maths Made Easy programmes this year. Laptop Wednesday is always a success.
We are looking forward to our last month, with an exciting trip being planned for Tuesday, 16th June.
Ms Quinlan’s 3rd and 4th class are busy with their Agri Aware project “Incredible Edibles”. Incredible Edibles is a healthy eating initiative for Primary School pupils which encourages schools to grow carrots, lettuce, potatoes, parsley and turnip.
We began in April by sowing our seeds into small pots to give them a chance to get started.
Each week, we check on our seeds to see their progress. We keep track of the progress on a chart.
Potatoes 8/5/15
Lettuce 8/5/15

Our produce were transferred and planted outside on the 13th May. We have been busy since tracking their progress and watering them each day.
We were very happy with our progress on the 5th June. Our vegetables are doing very well. We couldn’t believe how big our potatoes had got.
We are looking forward to harvesting and tasting our vegetables.
A big thank you to Ms Dalton for her hard work in organising Incredible Edibles in Scoil Mhuire.
Bhuaigh Scoil Mhuire duais i gComórtas Óige Sheachtain na Gaeilge 2015.
Bhuamar an chéad duais i gcomhluadar le Scoil Lorcáin (Átha Cliath) agus Gaelscoil na Mí i ‘nGradam na Scoileanna’. Dúirt Sinéad Ní Dhomhnaill ó Chonradh na Gaeilge go raibh “caighdeán dochreidte ar iarratais na gcomórtas i mbliana”.
Chuir Bn. Uí Dhaltúin cuntas le chéile faoi na heachtraí a rinneamar anseo i Scoil Mhuire i rith Seachtain na Gaeilge – tráth na gceist, ceolchoirm, cluichí, filíocht, scéalaíocht srl. Bhí griangrafanna ina leabhar freisin.
Dúirt Conradh na Gaeilge gur bhain na moltóirí an-taitneamh as an gcuntas.
Comhghairdeas mór le na daltaí agus na múinteoirí iontacha – go mórmhór Bn. Uí Dhaltúin, as a gcuid oibre. Tá sibh ar fad le moladh as an iarracht a rinne gach aon duine agaibh.

Congratulations to Scoil Mhuire Knockavilla
Scoil Mhuire have had great success in the 2015 Conradh na Gaeilge, Seachtain na Gaeilge Youth Competition.
We won first prize in the ‘Gradam na Scoileanna’ competition. This prize was shared with two Gaelscoileanna – Scoil Lorcáin in Dublin and Gaelscoil na Mí. This is a wonderful achievement for Scoil Mhuire. Sinéad Ní Dhomhnaill of Conradh na Gaeilge said that the standard of entries this year was incredibly high.
Ms. Dalton gathered together information about, and photographs of, the very many activities engaged in by the pupils and their teachers in Scoil Mhuire during Seachtain na Gaeilge. These activities included a table quiz, a concert, Irish games and quizzes, poetry, storytelling etc.
The Conradh na Gaeilge judges said that they greatly enjoyed the Knockavilla entry and were very impressed with the high standard of participation in oral Irish activities.
Well done to the wonderful pupils and teachers who took part in all the activities. Many thanks to Mary, Tom, Joanne and Michelle for their help. A special thanks to Ms. Dalton for her great work as co-ordinator of Seachtain na Gaeilge. You all deserve the highest praise for your work and dedication.
